Matt Serra vs. Georges St. Pierre 2

So Matt Serra is ready to fight GSP at UFC 83? Matt Serra is a nice guy, but he should do himself a favor and throw in the towel. His back is “not going to be a factor” (as Serra said in a episode of The Lights Out Show on the TAGG Radio Network), Georges St. Pierre is going to be a factor.

Last time against Serra, St. Pierre beat himself. I have no doubt that GSP is going to be there mentally this time. Georges can adapt his fighting style when he needs to, and systematically destroy his opponent, just like he destroyed Koscheck and Hughes.

The only thing that Serra has going for him going into this fight is that he is not going to underestimate GSP and that he has a lot of respect for him. That should buy him another 5-10 seconds in the octagon...maybe.

Mr Commentator,
We at the State Athletic Commission would like to have you come down to our facility and submit a urine test. Because clearly your "GSP fan-boy" mentality along with your dedication to the county that your family calls home makes us think that you got a hold of some bad drugs.

You cant tell me that Serra doesn't belong there. I do agree that GSP is a better fighter, but I also think that there are just some fighters out there that have another guys number no matter how good the other guy is.

Lets break down Serra here for a second. Of his 4 losses, 3 came by way of decision and only one time was he finished early

3 losses by decision -
current champ BJ Penn
former welterweight #1 contender Karo Parysian
BJJ specialist and lightning fast Din Thomas.

His only non-decision loss was courtesy of a once in a life time fluke spinning back fist from Mr International Shione Carter. It was only Serra's 4th pro fight and Carter had already had over 20 fights with wins over the likes of former pro boxer Chris Lytle and former middleweight champ Dave Menne. And for the record, Serra was winning that fight until the final minute of the 3rd when Carter caught him with that fist.

Serra has better jiu-jitsu then GSP and better head movement on his feet. GSP has better hands and cardio.

In my opinion, to say that Serra has lost before the fight even takes place is a bad idea. They are a great match up on paper and I see the re-match going the distance.

Never under estimate the underdog in MMA. Silva vs Franklin, Serra vs GSP, Jardine vs Liddell, Gonzaga vs Crocop, Coututre vs Sylvia, Henderson vs Wanderlei Silva, Forrest vs Shogun.....I think you see where I am going here.

.....fear the underdog

I didn't say that Serra didn't belong in the octagon. He just doesn't belong in there with GSP.

I'll agree that some fighters have other fighter's nunber, just like Chuck has Tito's number and Rampage has Chucks, but do you really think this is the case with Matt Serra?

And yea, you can throw Serra's record around all you want. Matt Hughes had a good record too.
Why is it that Hughes is confident about being able to beat Serra, yet he was somewhat tentative before he fought GSP? Maybe he knows something that you don't? And Serra is training like mad so he doesn't get his ass handed to him. Why? Because he knows that
GSP can beat him. Serra was also quoted as saying, "unless I want to get my ass kicked, I got to train my ass off". Get his ass kicked? Is that a winning attitude, or is Serra afraid that he is going to lose? Georges is going into this fight thinking about how he can change it up this time and win.

This fight isn't only about winning. GSP is pissed off about all of the shit talking that Serra is doing as you can tell by what he told the Ottowa Sun, "We'll see what's going to happen next time. We'll see if he's as good at fighting as he is at talking. I have respect for him, but he has said a lot of things about me. I will let my fists do the talking next time I fight him. I've never answered him back. Next time I fight him, he's going to feel it.
He said I was giving excuses. Which is bad. I shouldn't say those things. But I did. He said,
'aw Frenchy, go back to your red wine and hockey game.' I'm a Frenchy guy ... okay man, we'll see next time. I never answered back to him, but I'm going to let my fist answer back next time. He's not my friend. I had a good relationship with him. He's a nice guy, he was a nice guy, until he crossed the line. Perfect. It's going to be a different story next time.”

Now Serra will be surrounded by Frenchies when he fights Georges in Montreal, so we'll see how warm his reception is. The Sun also said that, "Serra has compared fighting St. Pierre in Montreal to Rocky Balboa going to Russia and beating up Ivan Drago in front
of his people". Come on. Rocky was an underdog in the movies, but even Rocky knew that he had a fighting chance. Serra is no Rocky.

You say that "Serra has better jiu-jitsu"? Yea buddy, and Koscheck had a better wrestling too. He was the NCAA Division I champion. Look what happened to him! GSP is likely to take in all of Serra's strenghts and beat him at his own game.

To quote you, "Never under estimate the underdog". Didn't St. Pierre lose to Serra? So GSP is the underdog here. So I guess you're right, we should "fear the underdog".

1- Matt Hughes' record is VERY padded. Who has he beat before 2005 that you have heard of?

2- Hughes talked more shit and was more disrespectful towards GSP then Serra ever was.

3- You are taking GSP's comment out of context. Serra is talking about being champ, he is confident. Do you want a champ that is wishy-washy about his ability? Plus he is selling the fight, headliners make bonus money on pay-per-views. I would say some non-sense like that too, you know full well when the fight is over these two guys hug and have mad respect for each other.

Serra = confident
Hughes = cocky prick

4- your Koscheck reference is empty. Yeah better wrestler then GSP, but poor training, inadequate camp, poor game plan all negated that theory, not GSPs ability.

5- Even though he holds the welterweight strap, Serra is still the underdog. Look it up, most wagering sites have it tilted slightly towards GSP.

From MMA weekly-

WELTERWEIGHT DIVISION (170-pound limit)
#1 Welterweight Fighter in the World: Georges St. Pierre

2. Matt Serra

MMA on tap has GSP as favorite, ranked #1 with Serra as 3rd

Yahoo Sports AND MMA Playground have GSP as the 2nd best pound for pound fighter behind Anderson Silva with Serra nowhere to be found on that list. Not to mention GSP as #1 Welterweight and Serra as 4th....4TH!!!

Care to kiss my ass now or would you prefer to wait until later?

WAR SERRA MAKING CANADA OUR 51st STATE!!!!!

So Tonyyy, I guess that you have to get the KO to destroy another fighter then, right?
A unanimous decision isn't good enough? So I suppose Randy Couture didn't destroy Silva?
I guess that I am just stupid and ignorant then, like this guy that said, "Randy on the other hand fought Tim Sylvia and DESTROYED him, picked him apart and fed him to the wolves for 5 rounds"
Hmmm, on the other hand, I'll bet a lot of people agree with that stupid guy.

I could have sworn that GSP did destroy Koscheck by beating him at his own game. How many times did Koscheck get taken down? You did actually see the fight, didn't you?

Here is a recap from http://www.kocosports.com/ in case you are confused:

Round 1:
"...GSP took Koscheck down almost immediately with ease..."

Round 2:
"...GSP takes Koscheck down with ease again early in the second. He remained on top the entire time..."

Round 3:
"GSP dominates the round, Koscheck did next to nothing here and took more punishment than most rounds, with elbows and punches with GSP on top."

But hey, maybe we're all just a little slow.

Matt Serra is the top welterweight in the world. He'll knock GSP out again, then he'll knock Hughes out.

Maybe then he'll get to fight somebody with a solid chin and some heart. Maybe they'll feed Marcus Davis to Serra. That would be a much more exciting fight to see than watching him beat up wrestlers and frenchys.

Damn Tonyyy.....he didnt destroy Koscheck??? Like MMA Commentator says you dont need a KO to destroy someone.

Let us not forget something Tonyyy.....not only was it a unanimous decision, but all three judges scored it 30-27 did they not?
