Four words can best describe most people's feelings about the EliteXC event last night; Shock, Outrage, Dissapointment, Bull****
At first I was loving the fights. Joe Villasenor put on a very impressive fight against Phil Baroni. Robbie Lawler vs. Scott Smith was an all out war. After getting a finger in the eye, the doctor stopped the fight without really giving Smith a chance to recover. The questionable stoppage, resulting in a no contest, was a huge dissapointment.
But the Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson fight took the cake. The fight was stood up by the ref while Thompson was in side control. Kimbo ate elbows without defending himself for a very, very long time. And the fight was stopped while Thompson was still swinging. This looked to me like somebody really wanted Kimbo to win and the whole fight smelled funny.
Brett Rogers, who defeated Jon Murphy by TKO earlier in the event, had even more damning words to say about the Kimbo fight. According to mmajunkie.com, at the EliteXC press conference, Rogers said, "It was garbage. You did tap. You did tap out (and) I was right there." The stinging words of Brett Rogers escalated into an altercation that resulted in both fighters having to be held back.
So, suffice it to say, the EliteXC Prime Time Event wasn't a huge success. You might even say that it was a blow to MMA. But don't take my word for it, read what the MMA fans of Myspace had to say (below) and give us your opinion about the fights.

Body: I know dana white hates kimbo slice and thinks he's essentially a joke in mma, and he's right, I think he takes away the credibility that the sport has, and is trying very hard to keep and gain. but i would love to see kimbo come to the ufc to fight so that he'd get matched up with a real striker and get ktfo'd. you put kimbo in the cage against cro cop, kongo, arlovski, he goes to sleep. end of story.

Body: finally exposed as the fraud that Elite XC has made him.
EXC = bad for the sport. What a terrible show with terrible doctor's stoppages and terrible ref's stoppages.
Go back to YouTube Kimblow! You don't deserve to be in ANY main event, on ANY televised event and ESPECIALLY not to be in ESPN the magazine.
Granted, with CBS's obvious dislike of violence on the show, I'm surprised they even let them hit each other.
